SECOND VIDARBHA RANJI WIN NOW PART OF CRICKETING LORE.

In a tense match of changing fortunes, VCA Ranji Team defeated Saurashtra by 78 Runs in the final match played at VCA Jamtha Stadium Nagpur from 3rd to 7th Feb’2019. Proving that the first Ranji win was no fluke, a disciplined and spirited VCA got better of their Saurashtra counterparts and underlined that the process started by visionary Shri Shashank Manohar has started bearing fruits.

Road to 2nd Ranji Victory

  • Maharashtra at Gahunji: Match drawn, Maharashtra won on 1st inning lead.
  • Karnataka at Nagpur: Match drawn, Karnataka won on 1st inning lead.
  • Baroda at Nagpur: Match drawn, Vidarbha won on 1st inning lead.
  • Chhattisgarh at Raipur: Vidarbha won by 10 wickets.
  • Railways at New Delhi: Vidarbha won by 118 runs.
  • Gujrath at Nagpur: Match drawn, Vidarbha won on 1st inning lead.
  • Mumbai at Nagpur: Vidarbha won by inning & 145 runs.
  • Saurashtra at Rajkot: Match drawn, Saurashtra won on 1st inning lead.
  • Uttarakhand at Nagpur (QF): Vidarbha won by Inning & 115 runs.
  • Kerala at Wayanad (SF): Vidarbha won by inning & 11 runs.
  • Saurashtra at Nagpur (F): Vidarbha won by 78 runs.

Wasim Jaffer with 1037 Runs was the torchbearer while Aditya Sarwate with his all-round performance was the trailblazer.  Aditya’s 55 wickets & 354 Runs in the tournament was the key to VCA success.

  • Umesh Yadav: 23 wickets
  • Lalit Yadav: 19 wickets

VCA President Mr. Anand Jaiswal, Vice President Mr. Prashant Vaidya and the Executive Committee Members have congratulated the team & the support staff and have announced a bonus of Rs. 3 Crore beside the prize money of Rs.2 Crore by BCCI.

Vidarbha is only the sixth team in the tournament’s long history to have defended the title.  Mumbai, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Delhi are the other teams who have managed to win consecutive titles.

With this 2nd consecutive Ranji win Vidarbha join the following Associations to this feat.
