Vidarbha Cricket Association, is the premier most association, which strives and works hard, for the betterment of cricket and cricketer in this Vidarbha region. One of the oldest cricket associations in India.
VCA hosted its first match in 1929 and the venue then was the tenth in the country. VCA is also credited to have given India, its first Test captain, Cottari Kanakaiya Nayudu, a Padma Bhushan awardee popularly known as CK Nayadu or just ‘CK’. He captained the Indian Team against England at Lords in 1932.
The association has fixed number of members ( 1280) and is governed by an Executive Committee, which strives and works hard, for the betterment of association and players in this region. The committee is responsible for the governing and maintaining the stadiums and grounds associated with VCA. The Executive Committee is further supported by a Sub-Committee, who are responsible for various tasks and activities of the association.
Apart from the various local cricket grounds, the associates currently has two cricketing venues under them. VCA Ground in Nagpur city and an newer state-of-the-art cricket stadium, just 7 kms away from the city. The new stadium is one of the best International Cricket Venue and has been highly praised by crickets, experts as well as journalists. Cricketer turned Celebrity Commentator Alan Wilkins in one of his visits, said “It is a fabulous stadium, a Colosseum here in Nagpur. It has the most impressive Press box for the traveling media. It really is a wonderful venue.”
